Danny Lee's hopes of a second PGA victory disappeared with a rash of bogeys today at the Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
Much like compatriot Lydia Ko the day before, Lee led the tournament into the final day before a slew of mistakes saw him surrender that advantage midway through the round.
He bogeyed the second, third and seventh holes to turn three over as he struggled to get his game under control.
Lee steadied with a birdie after the turn but then bogeyed two more holes as his good buddy Rickie Fowler overtook him and accelerated into a playoff with Hideki Matsuyama.
That went for four holes as both players birdied the par four 18th before Fowler bogeyed the 17th and Matsuyama parred to take the title.
Lee halted his troubles when he birdied the par five 15th and then the 17th to sign for a 73 and fourth place and pocket US$312,000 for his fourth place finish.
