New Zealand golfer Danny Lee has surged into contention at the halfway stage of the USPGA Tour's Quail Hollow Championship in North Carolina.
A string of birdies on the 8th, 9th and 10th helped the Rotorua teenager fire a three under 69, leaving him four under for the Championship and just four shots off the pace in a tie for 17th. Lee is overjoyed at making his first cut as a pro. He says he was nervous playing the tough last five holes but is pleased he came through.
American Bubba Watson and South African Retief Goosen share the lead at 8 under par. Tiger Woods carded an even par 72 to sit one shot off the pace.
