The Players Championship, widely regarded as the unofficial fifth golf major, will be pushed back two months from next year as part of a radical shake-up of the PGA Tour.
The tournament, which traditionally features one of the strongest fields in golf at the TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, will move from late March to the second week in May.
PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem also announced that coverage of the 2007 Tour would be confined to just two of the three big television networks under new six-year deals agreed with CBS and NBC.
