Michael Campbell has been upstaged by Ernie Els in the opening round of the Heineken Classic at Royal Melbourne.
Campbell fired an eight under par 64 to take the early lead, but then Els carded a remarkable 60 late in the day to finish on top.
Els says his round became pretty intense once he started eyeing up the magic score of 59.
He says he felt a lot of pressure over the last few holes.
So Ernie Els starts the second round with a four stroke lead over Michael Campbell.
Kiwi Mahal Pearce is back in a share of third.
Wellington's Brad Iles has marched into the quarterfinals of the New South Wales Amateur championships with an impressive 10 and 8 win over Sydney's Won Joon Lee in their 36-hole match.
Iles will now play Australian Mark Thompson in Friday's quarters.
