LONDON - New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell returns to business in Paris this weekend in his quest for an elusive maiden tournament win on European soil.
Campbell, in his sixth year on the European tour, is third overall on the European Order of Merit following a golden summer that featured wins in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Taiwan and the Heineken Classic in Perth.
After a month's break from the circuit, the French Open will be Campbell's first appearance of the season in Europe.
He will approach the first tee with the aim of lifting his ranking.
"I want to stay focused, work hard and win the European Order of Merit," said Campbell, speaking from his London home.
"But I have not won on European soil yet so that's the first of my goals."
He hopes to play for the next five weeks in a row, including a possible appearance at the US Open.
Campbell will qualify for the Open if he makes the top two on the Order of Merit.
