KEY POINTS:
Michael Campbell is a doubtful starter for next year's New Zealand Open golf tournament, saying an unexpected date change clashes with his American commitments.
Campbell, preparing for the Scottish Open, today vented his frustration at the rescheduling of the tournament at The Hills golf club in Queenstown. The next event will be held in March, four months after its usual date.
"Obviously a date in March next year is best for them but it's not for me," said Campbell.
"I will be no doubt in America at that time preparing for the World Golf Championship event in Florida and it means I will miss out on competing in Queenstown.
Campbell, whose foundation is the NZ Open's official charity, was angry not to have been informed of the date change by New Zealand Golf.
"I'm supposed to the ambassador for the New Zealand Open and I found out the new date for the event via my father, Tom," he said.
"I've had no email, no phone call whatsoever and here I am an ambassador for the tournament and it's just so disrespectful as far as I am concerned."
