It's a new year, but the same old struggles continue for Michael Campbell on the European Tour.
Campbell is dead last, 18 shots off the pace, after a disastrous 11 over par 83 in the opening round of the Abu Dhabi Championship. The round included five bogeys and three double bogeys.
Fellow kiwis Mark Brown and Danny Lee fared a lot better. Brown fired a one under par 71 to be tied for 54th, while Lee is just one shot further back.
There is a three way tie at the top of the leaderboard with Englishmen Ian Poulter and Richard Bland joined by South African Keith Horne at seven under par.
