KEY POINTS:
ATLANTA - Fellow US Open golf championship winner Geoff Ogilvy is not surprised New Zealander Michael Campbell is playing so poorly.
Australia's Ogilvy succeeded Campbell in winning the US Open in 2006 and is among the favourites to win this year's Masters, which starts on Friday (NZT).
Ogilvy will contest only his third Masters and boosted hopes of becoming the first Australian winner at Augusta after finishing joint second in the Houston Open, which ended today.
In contrast, Campbell will start his eighth Masters campaign in the worst possible form having finished dead last in Houston after scores of 81 and 82.
Campbell will tee up at Augusta not having made the cut in seven prior appearances.
He missed out by a stroke in playing all four rounds last year but will tee up on Friday looking simply to end a run of three scores in the 80s that begun with an 83 on the first day of last month's Malaysian Open.
"It's not surprising to see him play badly because Cambo's always been so hot and cold," Ogilvy said.
"He would run hot and play great for a year but then he would turn absolutely stone cold the next year.
"In six months time he could easily be back to being one of the best players in the world again."
