KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's Mark Brown has capped off a win in the Johnnie Walker Classic golf tournament in India by winning the European Tour Golfer of the Month title for February.
Brown, currently competing in the Malaysian Open, had victories at the Sail Open and Johnnie Walker Classic, both near New Delhi, boosting his world ranking from 181 to 64 in the last couple of weeks.
The 33-year-old considered quitting professional golf in 2003, but has more than justified his decision to re-dedicate himself to the game.
"I joined The European Tour last year as an affiliate member and hoped if I could play half decently I could possibly get into the top 115 on the Order of Merit," Brown said.
"But now to be in the winners' category, I am still pinching myself. This is a fantastic award and I am very proud of that."
Brown emerged as the panel's selection from a strong list of contenders, headed by world No 3 Ernie Els, who came sixth in the Indian Masters before winning the Honda Classic on the US PGA Tour.
