KEY POINTS:
Burly Australian amateur Aaron Pike has decided not to compete in the New Zealand Golf Open, after initially accepting an invitation to play.
Pike earned the invitation after his fourth placing in the Australian Masters in Melbourne, which ended yesterday.
However, after initially accepting the invitation, Pike today told organisers he was unable to attend after checking his other obligations.
Practice for the open is today and tomorrow, the Pro-Am on Wednesday with the championship proper starting on Thursday at Gulf Harbour in the Rodney District.
