After falling behind in the second round at the Texas Open in San Antonio, Kiwi golfer Steven Alker fell off the pace completely in the third round, which included three consecutive shots from the tee box finding the water on the third hole.
The Hamiltonian carded a 13-over 85 on Sunday morning (NZT), resulting in the 45-year-old falling to the bottom of the 76 golfers who made the cut. He is currently 12-over for the tournament.
It was something of an astronomical collapse for Alker, who had played well in the first round and found himself tied for second place and one shot off the lead with a score of five-under 67.
The second round that followed was somewhat sketchy, as Alker went on to record a four-over 76.
That faulty round was nothing in comparision to the fall from grace he suffered this morning.
