Kiwi golfer Steven Alker has made a safe start to the first finals tournament on the Web.com Tour after he fired a one-under 71 at the Hotel Fitness Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Alker's round, which included five birdies and two costly double bogeys, left him in a share of 57th place today, seven strokes back from leader Ryan Blaum.
Alker has secured his PGA Tour card for next year but the four-tournament finals series is an opportunity for him to boost his priority ranking for the 2014-2015 PGA Tour and earn extra money.
