New Zealand golfer Steven Alker has made a strong start to the latest PGA Tour event in Silvis, Illinois, sitting two shots off the lead after the opening round.
Alker fired a six-under 65, including four birdies and an eagle, at the John Deere Classic to share fifth place.
Americans Justin Thomas and Nicholas Thompson were leading after both carding eight-under rounds of 63.
Fellow Kiwis Tim Wilkinson and Danny Lee, coming off his first PGA Tour win on Monday, both carded opening rounds of 68 to place the duo at three-under and a share of 37th.
