Kiwi golfer Steven Alker has fired the round of the day to make a strong finish at the Chiquita Classic, the second Web.com Tour finals event.
Alker's seven-under 65 saw him finish in a share of 25th at eight-under today as he jumped 38 places on the leaderboard courtesy of eight birdies and a bogey.
The 42-year-old, who has already secured his PGA Tour card for next season, was 10 strokes back from winner Adam Hadwin (-18).
There are four finals tournament on the Web.com Tour and those players who have secured their PGA Tour cards for next season are playing to boost their priority ranking and earn extra money. There also 25 further PGA Tour cards on offer.
Alker has said he will likely play three of the four finals events as he eyes the 2014-2015 PGA Tour which gets underway next month.
