KEY POINTS:
GLENEAGLES, Scotland - New Zealand golfer Steve Alker has failed to make the cut in the Johnnie Walker Championship here today.
The Hamilton golfer crashed out of the event with a disappointing second round five over par 78 for a three over par 149 total on the PGA Centenary course.
Alker never recovered from a third hole double bogey and then proceeded to drop a further three shots at his sixth, 11th and 14th holes.
His exit from the event also broke a good run of showings in Europe starting with his 12th place result in last fortnight's Scandinavian Masters before sharing third in last week's Dutch Open.
England's Simon Wakefield (69) and in-form Frenchman Thomas Levet (69), who shared third with Alker in Holland, are tied for the lead on nine under par.
