Kiwi golfers Steven Alker and Tim Wilkinson carded tidy opening rounds of 69 during the first day of The McGladrey Classic in Georgia on the PGA Tour.
Their one-under totals left them in a share of 48th today and fellow Kiwi Danny Lee was set to join them with a similar score before a disastrous eight on the par-four 16th at the Seaside Course on Sea Island saw him slip towards a five-over 75 and a share of 126th place.
Lee will need a stellar second round tomorrow to make the cut, while Alker and Wilkinson will need more of the same.
There's a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard with Americans Brian Harman, Michael Thompson, Erik Compton and Will MacKenzie all at five-under.
