Cecilia Cho, a 14-year-old Auckland amateur, was leading by one shot midway through her first round at the women's New Zealand Open golf tournament at Christchurch today.
Cho shot six birdies and a bogey to be five-under through 11 holes on the Clearwater course.
Her nearest rival is Australian professional Karen Lunn, who was four-under through 14.
On three-under were Clearwater club professional Kerryn Starr, Australian Catherine Hull and Korean Yeon Song Kim.
New Zealander Sarah Nicholson was a further shot back through 16 holes while British favourite Laura Davies was well back on four-over.
A highlight this morning was a hole-in-one on the 137m par 3 fourth hole by Korean professional So Hee Kim.
