Ryan Fox has surged into the top 10 at the Italian Open after a clinical final round of seven-under par on the Rolex Series to finish the week in a tie for eighth.
With five back nine birdies in a row at the Gardagolf Country Club, this launched the Kiwi into a great position and his rounds of 69, 68, 67 and 64 showed consistency on his way to recording his second-best result of the season.
After a solid outing at last weeks BMW PGA Championship on the Rolex Series, this was a massive improvement and boosts his season in both points for the Race to Dubai standings as well as a healthy pay cheque of $200,000 NZD.
Fox finished six shots behind the tournament winner, Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen who held off an heroic surge from local legend Francesco Molinari.
Josh Geary was also having a round to remember as he got to four-under for the championship and advanced 25 places up the stacked leaderboard.
He was eying the biggest payday of his career before a 72nd hole double-bogey cost him dearly as he dropped back into a tie for 51st.
Even a back nine eagle wasnt enough to bring him back to life, but Geary finished the day one-under par to enjoy another four rounds of golf and collects $35,000 NZD for his efforts.
