Ryan Fox has completed a career best result on the European Tour to finish in a tie for third at the Maybank Championship this evening.
With three early rounds of matching 68s, Fox went even deeper when it counted by recording a final round of six-under par, 66.
It was clear that the Auckland professional had a love-affair with the opening hole at the Saujana Golf & Country Club, playing the par five a total of six-under for the week. This included an eagle on the final round to spark his charge, but the most memorable moment of his week will be his albatross (two) with a six iron from 195 metres in round three.
With this, Fox also pockets a handsome $230,000 NZD for his efforts, adding to his $2,000,000 NZD total in 2017.
Any chances of a maiden European Tour victory were quickly washed away by a spectacular final round performance from Shubhankar Sharma who made 10 birdies on his way to a round of ten- under, 62 to finish two shots clear of second place.
Fox now travels to Lake Karrinyup Country Club for the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth from 8-11 February where he will join Mike Hendry and more in hope for a Kiwi victory.
