Davis Love fired a three-under par 68 during a day-long downpour at Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, yesterday to seize a three-stroke lead after three rounds of the PGA Nissan Open.
Love stood at 10-under par 203 after 54 holes with Australia's Robert Allenby and Americans Corey Pavin, Craig Barlow and Dennis Paulson sharing second at 206.
Zimbabwe's Nick Price was another stroke off the pace along with Americans Jeff Sluman and Michael Muehr.
A black ribbon circled the flagpole on the third hole in memory of United States auto racer Dale Earnhardt, who died last weekend in a last-lap crash at the Daytona 500 in Florida.
Frank Nobilo had a one-under 70 to sit at 211 but fellow New Zealander Craig Perks missed the cut.
