The 18th green has not been kind to New Zealand golfers in the first round of matchplay at the Australian Amateur Championships in Adelaide today.
Auckland's Travis O'Connell and Rotorua's Jae An have both lost on the last green in their first round matches at Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
O'Connell lost to South Australia's Henry Perks 1-down while An, who needed a playoff to qualify, lost to another local player, Adam Bland 1-down.
There will definitely be another New Zealander eliminated in the first round, with strokeplay champion Brad Iles up against fellow New Zealand representative Mark Smith (Rotorua) while Hawke's Bay's Doug Holloway is on the course against Victoria's Josh Younger.
