Former New Zealand golfer Ross Newdick has died at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.
Newdick's amateur career peaked when he won the New Zealand amateur championship in 1960 before he turned professional in 1963.
His best year was clearly 1966 when he won both the New Zealand PGA Championship and the Singapore Open.
In the same year he also finished second in the Hong Kong, Swiss, Dutch and German Opens, and third in the New Zealand Open.
In the late 1990s Newdick made an impression in golf course design and development.
He partnered Sir Bob Charles as a consultant on a number of New Zealand-based projects, including in part, Clearwater Resort in Christchurch.
He was lately involved in the development of La Pointe Estate, north of Auckland.
Newdick, who had lived with his family in Queensland for the past two years, is survived by his wife and two children.
