Former Counties lock Daniel Adongo has today signed for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL.
The 23-year old Kenyan, who most recently played Super 15 rugby for the Southern Kings, has been signed as a linebacker and will fill the roster spot of suspended tight end Wesley Saunders.
Adongo played a big hand in helping the Steelers win the ITM Championship last season, playing in 13 matches before heading back to South Africa to join the Kings.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said he was excited about the 1.96m, 117kg Adongo joining the team.
"He is not only an elite athlete and rising international rugby player, but he is an exceptional competitor and human being that has the right makeup for our sport,'' Grigson said in a statement. ``We all look forward to watching his growth and development in the ensuing weeks.''
