AMSTERDAM (AP) Heerenveen beat Groningen 4-2 Sunday to move to third in the Dutch Eredivisie, level on points with Ajax, which beat PEC Zwolle 2-1 a day earlier.
Ajax rested key players ahead of the team's midweek Champions League clash with Barcelona and could not break the deadlock until captain Siem de Jong and Bojan Krkic came on after 63 minutes.
South African midfielder Thulani Serero gave Ajax the lead 10 minutes later and Zwolle defender Maikel van der Werff doubled his team's deficit with a 76th-minute own goal. Giovanni Gravenbeek scored a late consolation goal for Zwolle, which remained atop the Eredivise despite suffering its first defeat of the season.
PSV Eindhoven missed the chance to go top when it drew 2-2 with FC Twente in Enschede on Saturday.
