SYDNEY - A-League champions Sydney FC are on the search for a new playmaker and a new striker after announcing the signing of goalkeeper Liam Reddy for three seasons.
Reddy, who played for Wellington Phoenix against Sydney FC in the A-League finals, is joining his fourth A-League club after starting his senior career with Parramatta in the old NSL.
"They (Sydney) are a club that's ambitious and they want to win things, as we've seen this year with winning the double," Reddy told reporters on Thursday.
"Every year when Sydney go into a competition they want to win the double. Their aspirations are very high and they want to play in Asia every year.
"That was a major drawcard, but also to return home. I'm a Sydney boy and I've been away for about five years now, so it's fantastic to come home and play in front of family and friends."
With Reddy replacing the departed Clint Bolton and Ivan Necevski re-signed with the club, Lavicka is looking to shore up his midfield and striking areas.
The Czech-born coach said his priorities included recruiting another striker and finding a replacement for retired playmaker and captain Steve Corica.
