KEY POINTS:
The Wellington Phoenix will take something close to all-out attack into tomorrow's sixth-round battle with cellar-dwellers Perth Glory.
In a minor reshuffle, coach Ricki Herbert has recalled veteran striker Vaughan Coveny to spearhead the attack, leaving Shane Smeltz to join Brazilians Felipe and Daniel to provide the back-up.
Midfielder Michael Ferrante will drop to the bench to allow Coveny back into the starting line-up.
Otherwise the Phoenix will be unchanged from the team who drew with Adelaide United at the same ground on Sunday, although Herbert is likely to stay with his attacking philosophy in naming three midfielders on the bench with Tim Brown, Ferrante and George Paladini set to join goalkeeper Mark Paston in the wings.
Herbert is keen to give vice-captain Brown his first taste of action, but only if the circumstances are right.
"There is no thought of giving him a run just to give him some football before he lines up for the All Whites against Fiji in two weeks," said Herbert. "I can't look at the All Whites' situation. I know Tim is fit - he got through the midweek game we had last week."
Now he has an almost fully fit squad - Vince Lia the only doubt - to call on, Herbert is faced withsome tough calls but says itwould not matter if he had 18 players, rather than 22, to select from.
"There is disappointment for some players every week. But this is a professional club. The players trained really well today," said Herbert yesterday.
"We had about 40 minutes of 11 v 11 and they showed me what they are capable of."
They continue to work on set plays with the emphasis on being aggressive in both defence and on attack.
Herbert is wary of the West Australians.
"I thought they dominated Central Coast for long periods but without scoring. The tide is due to turn for them. We just have to make sure it doesn't happen here."
Perth arrived in Wellington with a record they would rather be without.
In failing to score against the Mariners, Perth took their tally of minutes since they last scored an away goal to a record 674 - well clear of the New Zealand Knights, who went 504 minutes without an away goal in their first season.
Perth's last away goal was scored in Adelaide - 46 minutes into their round 11 clash with United last season.
They have at least helped to balance the odds a trifle by not returning home after last Sunday's game, opting instead for a training camp in Sydney before crossing the Tasman.
In remaining sixth round games, Sydney FC are at home to Newcastle Jets today and Adelaide are at home to Central Coast in tomorrow's late game.
