The Wellington Phoenix are losing money every time the fans fail to show.
Just over 7,000 turned out to watch the loss to Sydney FC, while crowd numbers have hovered around the 5,000 mark for most of their home A-League games.
General Manager, David Dome, says the franchise is not meeting their revenue targets.
"Yeah, that's right, that's the number we've set ourselves, we need 10,000 at those games to make it viable."
The Phoenix face a difficult task to resurrect the matter with their next two home fixtures set either side of Christmas.
