KEY POINTS:
The Wellington Phoenix will be without their All Whites despite today's World Cup qualifier against Fiji being called off.
The Phoenix will not call for their five players earlier released for international duty to join them for tomorrow's Hyundai A-League match at EnergyAustralia Stadium against the Newcastle Jets in Newcastle.
Phoenix assistant coach Wayne O'Sullivan, in charge of the team while head coach Ricki Herbert is in camp with the All Whites, said there was no need to alter the squad's composition for the match.
"It's disappointing that the All Whites-Fiji match has been called off and that we had five important players out of the mix for the Phoenix, but we're happy with how the squad we've named has performed this week," he said.
The five Phoenix players on national duty - Tim Brown, Mark Paston, Tony Lochhead, Jeremy Christie and Shane Smeltz - will remain in camp.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix will take an extended squad to Newcastle for tomorrow's match, though Brazilian midfielder Felipe has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The game is the chance for the Phoenix to put their season back on the rails and at the same time be party-poopers for the Gary Van Egmond-coached Jets.
Unbeaten at home since January 1 when they lost to Sydney FC last season the Jets will be aiming to continue a club record unbeaten home record of six matches.
Glen Moss will be back in goal but there will be enforced changes elsewhere which could become even more complicated once the outcome of last night's judicial hearing in Sydney involving regular captain Ross Aloisi is known.
Disappointed with last week's 2-1 away loss to Queensland Roar, the Phoenix are keen to quickly turn things around.
"The boys came off the pitch a bit gutted really, not only at getting beaten but the actual performance," said Phoenix midfielder Richard Johnson. "That's the good thing with the A-League, you know you've got a game coming up [and] you don't have to wait too long to try and put things right. Hopefully we can go out there and do that this week.
Van Egmond has drafted young, locally-based defender Beau Busch and Australian Institute of Sport midfielder James Holland into the squad as cover for injuries.
* Ross Aloisi is free to captain the Phoenix despite being found guilty yesterday of serious foul play.
Aloisi pleaded guilty at a Football Federation Australia disciplinary hearing in Sydney but was given a suspended one-match ban, clearing him to take the field in Newcastle.
