Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Danny Vukovic has confirmed a move to A-League soccer team Perth Glory next season after agreeing to terms on a three-year deal.
Vukovic, who rated one of the best goalkeepers in the competition after a successful five-year stint at Central Coast, has played second fiddle to All Whites No 1 Mark Paston for much of this season, his first with the Phoenix.
"Sitting on the bench, I said I wasn't used to it, but it's part of professional football," Vukovic told the A-League website.
"You have to compete for a place everywhere. You can't really expect to play week-in week-out. You have to be performing.
"It was more just an opportunity for a change and a chance to get back to Australia.
"There's a bit of security there and I can go over there and settle down with my girlfriend."
Ironically, Vukovic will now get his chance at the Phoenix, who are set to be without Paston for up to six months after he fractured his knee during last Saturday's 0-2 loss at Gold Coast United.
Vukovic will return to the starting lineup for Saturday's pivotal match with Newcastle.
