The Wellington Phoenix are delighted to be a part of the newly confirmed FFA Cup in Australia.
The knockout competition will include amateur and semi-professional clubs, with A-League sides entering the draw on a progressive basis.
Doubt had been cast as to whether the Phoenix would be involved in the competition due to travel costs.
But Phoenix general manager David Dome says it'll be vital to their annual preparations.
"There's going to be a number of games pre-season so we needed to have that buildup along with the other A-League clubs to build into the season so that was important.''
