Ricki Herbert's odd case of travelling blues continues.
The Phoenix coach watched as his side suffered another beating on the road in week 11 of the A-League - a 3-0 drubbing by Adelaide at Hindmarsh Stadium pushing the Wellingtonians out of the top half of the table.
They now have a weekend off to regroup before facing Brisbane tomorrow week in a game which threatens their long unbeaten run at Westpac Stadium.
The Roar chalked up their sixth win getting home 2-1 over Melbourne Victory in front of 9425 fans at Suncorp Stadium.
Mitch Nichols gave the Roar their 27th minute lead before former Roar player Robbie Kruse equalised three minutes into the second spell.
The points were eventually claimed by the home side when substitute Jean Carlos Solozano scored 13 minutes from time in a game in which Brisbane led the shot count 19-14.
Sydney FC also led 1-0 at the break - given the lead after 25 minutes by Bruno Cazarine. Alex Brosque doubled their advantage in the 54th minute and Cazarine's second eight minutes from time completed the win for the pre-season favourites who still cannot get off the bottom of the table.
"We waited a long time for the first victory this season," said Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka. "There was a lot of criticism in the first part of this season towards us, especially after the last game in Melbourne, but this is the right answer from the team.
"I am very happy and I am satisfied. It's only one step forwards but an important step for us."
Having seen his side now concede a record six straight losses, Glory interim coach Ian Ferguson was almost lost for words.
"It wasn't good enough pure and simple," Ferguson said after the game. in which he had five players booked.
"Bad performance, not Perth Glory-like, I'm disappointed."
At AAMI Park Melbourne Heart dominated everywhere but on the scoreboard as they played out a scoreless draw with visiting Gold Coast.
The Heart led the goal attempts 13-5 (but with only 3-1 on target) and had 58 per cent of possession. It was another good effort from All Whites custodian Glen Moss in the Coast goal.
A win for North Queensland Fury - away to the Newcastle Jets - tomorrow night would be further bad news for the Phoenix, pushing them back to eighth on the table.
In two key matches later in the week, Melbourne Victory entertain Adelaide on Friday night and Sydney are at home to Brisbane Roar a day later.
