All Whites midfielder Michael McGlinchey isn't heading to the Wellington Phoenix just yet.
An administrative error saw a story published on Football Australia's website this morning announcing the 27-year-old had secured an early release from his Japanese loan club Vegata Sendai and instead of returning to the Central Coast Mariners had opted to join the Phoenix on a two-year deal.
But a Phoenix spokesman confirmed the deal wasn't signed off yet and the negotiations remained fluid. The story has been pulled from the FFA's website.
There's no denying the Phoenix want to bring the former Celtic player to the capital but given McGlinchey's contract situation it's a delicate process.
McGlinchey was born in Wellington but moved to Scotland with his family as a one-year old.
He has racked up more than 20 international appearances for the All Whites since making his debut in 2009.
