The Knights have received a strong word of advice from top officials in the Australian A-League.... recruit more New Zealanders.
Officials believe this is a key reason why the new club has suffered this season, on and off the park, with just one win from 19 matches.
A-League Head of Operations Matt Carroll said clearly the problem lies with the lack of New Zealanders in the squad.
Carroll said the actual A-League can assist with marketing and broadcasting, but it is each club's duty to get the teams performing. He said recruitment is key for the Knights.
The Knights will be playing purely for pride against Adelaide tomorrow night in Auckland, with 18 points separating them from the nearest team to the bottom of the table.
