Knights 1 Melbourne 2
At last it's all over. We have now been put out of our misery and can start dreaming of, as John Adshead tells us we should, a brighter future next season.
The statistics make grim reading: one win, 17 losses, six points and a goal difference of minus 32 (every other team is in the positive). They also finished a massive 20 points behind Melbourne in seventh and the word out of Australia suggests the Knights have one final year to get things right.
Little went right last night. Behind inside two minutes when Mark Byrnes took advantage of confusion in the box, they fell further behind when Kevin Muscat scored from the spot 20 minutes later. It had been harshly awarded but it's been a harsh season.
The Knights were lucky not to concede a hatful but had the final say through Jeremy Brockie.
