Soccer: Fitzsimmons exits Knights

The New Zealand Knights and midfielder Steve Fitzsimmons have parted company. The Australian-born player and the club had "mutually agreed to terminate his playing contract effective immediately", the Knights said yesterday.

Fitzsimmons, 29, played in 11 games in the Knights' ill-fated A-League campaign, which has them rooted to the foot of the table, and scored no goals.
