Soccer: Ex-All White says Phoenix can go all the way

On the back of two impressive victories, the Phoenix are not only being talked up as finals contenders, but a team with the talent to go all the way.

They now sit 5th in the A-League after last night's results - and have a great chance to move even higher this Friday when they take on North Queensland in Wellington.

Former All White Sam Malcolmson says, with the addition of Eugene Dadi, they now have the attack to beat anybody in the A-League. He is predicting if the club can continue its recent run of form, it can take out the entire competition.

The Phoenix have six matches remaining in the regular season, three of which are at home.

Newcastle climbed three points above the Phoenix after a 3-2 win over reigning premiers Melbourne, despite the Jets having a player sent off in the first half.

Sydney remains at the top of the table, but blew the chance to go six points clear after Melbourne's defeat. The competition leaders are four points clear after a nil-all draw away to Perth.
