Kenny Cunningham looks poised to join fellow Costa Rican Carlos Hernandez at the Wellington Phoenix.
The striker is a free agent after recently playing in Bolivia and has been recommended to the club by Hernandez.
The Phoenix are refusing to comment on Cunningham, but it's understood a deal is close to being finalised.
Coach Ernie Merrick has two import spots available in his squad and has been on the hunt for midfielders and strikers.
