KEY POINTS:
A-League Operations Manager Matt Carroll has given a qualified endorsement to the Wellington and Palmerston North bid merger.
The two groups have combined to battle against Auckland in the quest for the A-League license formerly held by the New Zealand Knights.
Carroll says it sounds like a good idea.
He says he is yet to see the details of what the merger means with regard to venues, finances and other factors.
But Carroll says it is probably a wise move on behalf of both groups.
Matt Carroll says despite the merger, there is no flexibility in the deadlines with a decision due in a couple of weeks.
