Soccer: A-League wide open, say coaches

A-League coaches have declared the coming season the most open in the league's six-year history.

While eventual grand finalists Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory emerged as the clear picks ahead of last season, not one of the coaches polled at the 2010-11 official season launch was willing to nominate a single team to beat.

Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says he thinks any team can win the title. Herbert says he's not going to write anybody off.

Experts across the Tasman are tipping the Phoenix to once again be a finals contender this season.

Expansion franchise the Melbourne Heart join the league this year, taking the number of clubs up to 11.
