"[A red card] changes a lot of things within the game; all the preparation the lads and staff have worked hard on during the week changes immediately. I hold my hand up for that.
"I'm more disappointed that I'm going to miss two games and I can't help us get back to winning ways," he said.
Ball was found guilty of serious foul play by the A-League's match review panel and issued a two-game ban, meaning he'll miss Sunday's home clash against Western Sydney Wanderers and the midweek visit to Melbourne Victory.
His absence comes at a time when fellow Phoenix attackers Jaushua Sotirio and Tomer Hemed are also unavailable. Sotirio has a knee injury that will keep him out for the next month, while Hemed has tweaked a hamstring and will miss the next two weeks.
On the plus side, the club bolstered their stocks this week by signing former Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar striker Charles Lokoli-Ngoy, with the robust frontman likely to debut this weekend. Other options to slot into the front-line are young Kiwi Ben Waine and Australian Mirza Muratovic.
Ball has focused his efforts on helping prepare the greener members of the club's strike-force.
"All I can do is help the young guys who have now got the opportunity to get ready for the next game," said Ball.
"I've poured my energy into the lads like Waineo and Mirza and making sure they're ready. I've told them I'll give them any advice they need from me.
"I've tried to be really bright around the place and show that we've still got the ability to go and get the points we need."
