MOSCOW (AP) " Ukrainian defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy has signed for Europa League side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk after being frozen out at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Chygrynskiy rejoined Shakhtar from Barcelona in 2010, but found his starting opportunities limited in recent seasons as a result of injuries, poor form and competition from younger players.
The center-back left Shakhtar by mutual consent last week and Dnipro said Monday, in a website statement, that it had signed him on a contract running until the end of the current season.
Chygrynskiy has 29 caps for Ukraine, but has not played for his country since 2011.
With the Ukrainian Premier League still on its winter break, Chygrynskiy could debut for Dnipro in the Europa League first knockout round against Olympiacos on February 19.
