UDINE, Italy (AP) Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has extended his contract with the Serie A club until the end of the 2016-2017 season.
Guidolin says "it's not true that I was not considered by the big teams, but that I preferred to stay in Udine and I'm very proud of that. I'm very happy to be tied to this club for so long."
The 57-year-old Guidolin has been at Udinese since 2010 and the club has taken great strides under him, with its third-place finish in 2012 being the highest in the club's history.
Udinese finished fourth in Guidolin's first season qualifying for the Champions League for the first time and fifth last campaign.
