SYDNEY (AP) Tim Cahill has ruled himself out of Australia's football friendly against Brazil on Saturday because of an ankle injury.
The 33-year-old Cahill said he hurt his right ankle while playing for the New York Bulls against DC United in a Major League Soccer match at the weekend.
He scored his eighth goal of the season and set up another goal in New York's 2-1 win before limping from the field in the 58th minute.
Cahill had scans on his ankle after the match and said "unfortunately I won't be fit to join the Socceroos in Brazil this week due to injury."
