LISBON, Portugal (AP) Sporting Lisbon's Islam Slimani scored in the final minute to secure a 1-0 win at Guimaraes and lift his team one point from Portuguese leader FC Porto.
Sporting looked like it wouldn't be able to take full advantage of Porto's 1-1 draw with Nacional on Saturday until Slimani went on in the 82nd and grabbed the late winner.
The victory left Sporting level on points with second-place Benfica, both right behind Porto after 10 rounds.
"We believed in sending on Slimani because we wanted to win at all costs," said Sporting midfielder Andre Martins. "The coach made the change and eventually it paid off."
Also on Sunday, it was: Rio Ave 0, Estoril 2; Setubal 1, Arouca; Maritimo 3, Gil Vicente 2; and Pacos Ferreira 1, Belenenses 0.
