Fredy Montero opened for Sporting with a header in the 51st minute. Andre Martins scored Sporting's second in the 60th, firing in a cross by Wilson Eduardo.
Sporting is two points behind leader FC Porto, which is perfect through four rounds of play.
Braga moved into third place with a 3-2 win over fourth-place Estoril, which is level on points with Benfica.
Also, Academica edged visiting Belenenses 2-1, Maritimo beat Setubal 4-2 on the road, and Arouca won 2-1 at Nacional.
