Waitakere United have moved into second spot in group B of the OFC Champions League, with a 3-1 win over AS Mont Dore.
It was a far from convincingly display from the ASB Premiership champions, especially after the New Caledonian team were reduced to ten men in just the second minute.
Mont Dore, who had been thrashed 12-2 by Auckland City last Sunday, looked headed for another disaster after defender Pascal Kenon was sent off for a deliberate hand ball in the penalty area, using his forearm to guide Ryan De Vries's goal bound shot away from danger.
Chris Palmer converted the resultant penalty but the rest of the first half was pure frustration for the New Zealand side. They missed a couple of gilt edged chances but failed to create much as Mont Dore defended resolutely.
Roy Krishna settled some nerves with well taken goals in the 47th and 55th minutes, before Jackyno Maou scored in the 75th minute as the visitors finished strongly.
