All Whites defender Ivan Vicelich left Auckland yesterday for trials with Dutch first division club Roda JC during their mid-winter break.
The 24-year-old will miss at least two matches for the Football Kingz, for whom he turns out as a midfielder, in the Australian National Soccer League.
The trial, with Roda JC sitting in sixth place, was arranged by former Kingz player John Lammers, who works for the Dutch Football Association.
"The club are looking for a defensive midfielder and John Lammers thought he might fit that. He has shown the club tapes and Ivan is on his way," Kingz general manager Chris Turner said yesterday.
"If the club wants him we would negotiate on a club-to-club basis."
Vicelich will miss Sunday's away game against NSL leaders South Melbourne and the clash on Friday week in Wellington against Sydney United.
