The hosts are out of the Oceania Nations Cup tournament after they were beaten by Tahiti 1-0 in today's first semifinal in Honiara.
The result was met by disbelief by the home fans, who packed into Lawson Tama Stadium in the expectation of the Solomon Islands winning through to the final.
The Bonitos had plenty of chances to do that, especially in the second half, but too often tried to play one more pass or walk the ball in.
Tahiti were resolute in defence and have size and pace up front and won courtesy of a first-half Jonathan Tehau header.
The All Whites take on New Caledonia at 4pm (NZT) for a place in Sunday's final.
