Chris Wood's Leicester City have missed out on the chance at playing for the spot in next year's English Premier League following defeat in the playoff semi-finals today.
Leicester went down 3-1 to Watford after winning the first leg 1-0. Watford secured a place in the promotion final at Wembley with a 90th minute goal by Troy Deeney to take the aggregate victory.
It was a heart-breaking defeat for Leicester who missed a chance to advance to the final just seconds earlier when Anthony Knockaert missed from the penalty spot.
Wood, who played 61 minutes, was gracious in defeat.
"Today we found out how cruel football can be! The fans were brilliant always stuck with us. Thanks for all the support this year! #LCFC," he tweeted after the game.
