Professional football returns to Dunedin in December when the Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar meet in week 10 of the Hyundai A-League, at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
The game, which will take place on Wednesday, December 14, was another coup for the Stadium and the fans, said David Davies, CEO of Forsyth Barr Stadium.
"We welcome back the Phoenix, the Roar and especially the fans to Dunedin for what we expect to be a very competitive game. I know the city will again get behind these teams and create another evening of noise, colour and football fever.
"Approximately 15,000 fans attended the pre-season football match in August and added passion and enthusiasm to really bring the stadium and the game alive. We're looking to build on that success,'' said Davies.
Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert said: "Dunedin getting this regional round game against competition from Australian venues is a reward for the incredible support we received on our first visit to the city earlier this year.''
